Genotyping-by-Sequencing

We are developing genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) approaches for wheat and other important crops including barley and oats. The protocols and bioinformatics approaches are broadly applicable to many different species. The latest protocols and related information can be found here.

The initial development of GBS was done by Elshire et al. (2011).  Our work on GBS for wheat and barley was first reported in PLoS ONE (Poland et al. 2012).  We have recently published the use of GBS for genomic selection in wheat breeding (Poland, Endelman et al. 2012) and a perspective of how GBS can be applied to a plant breeding and genetics studies (Poland and Rife 2012).
